  1. He wasn't using a camera, he was using a radar Doppler device or a laser system most likely, which unlike other types which are constantly on, can be selectively targeted against specific vehicles ot hopefully allow the Police to catch a few speeders who may possess Fuzz Busters or other types of Radar Detectors to avoid being robbed by cops.

  2. It could have been me!

If you were in my area then it was a laser speed detection device.

As we are nice we use the speed tolerance levels of 10% +2 mph, so in a 70 we wouldn't prosecute you unless you were doing 79mph.

Had you been speeding you would have been stopped

  3. probably an lt2020 or similar.

If you were driving at an indicated (i.e your speedo showed) 73 then in all likelihoodd you were doing less than 70.

Speedometers can under read speed by upto 10pct.Don'tt know if the A66 is an NSL dual carriageway but if it is then you will be fine.

  4. it just checks you speed he would have stopped you if you done anything wrong.

  5. 73 in a 70 is not a higher enough speed to render proscution...the device he was using was likely a ultralyte lti 20/20 or similar speed gun.

  6. Speed camera, but you should be fine as they give you 10% leeway. So you are safe'ish up to 77mph.

  7. It was a speed camera and you are nicked, my son.

  8. Sorry in our area that's what the cops are doing nabbing people who are speeding.

  9. it takes the speed you were goin and if he was gonna do u he would of got the cops further down the road to pull you 3 over aint that bad just be more careful in uture tho learn by ur mistakes lol but dont worry....oh the camera is hand held speed camera just like the ones at the road side not sure if they take ur registration tho

  10. The cops don't take pictures when doing speed patrols, they have a road unit 500 yards up the road.  You show 35 in a 30 mph zone they radio ahead your car make and reg the other unit pulls you in to give you a caution or a ticket  Gatsos take the pictures and its an automatic fine if you exceed the speed limit.  I'm a sports biker and if people can't read a 30 mph limit when approaching a school on a main road then they deserve the points.  Speed limits aren't there to spoil fun they are there to save lives.

  11. He was using a hand held radar speed gun.  If you were not stopped the chances are that you are OK.

  12. You sure it wasn't the A666 loll...was the copper drunk and swaying about?... because then my friend you could easily have been under 70 couldn't you...

  13. It's not a camera, it's a radar or laser speed-measuring device. If he'd caught you at excessive speed he'd either have come after you or contacted a colleague stationed down the road for that purpose.

At an indicated 73 you'll be fine, first of all the actual speed was probably below 70 (speedos tend to over-read, by up to 10%, but never under-read)  and usually they allow a tolerance anyway which is normally 10% + 2mph. Except in N Wales.
