Some salesman just joined my family's yahoo group. I've never heard of him. I, as moderator, want to approve who joins. I thought it was by invitation only.

  1. management- under group settings click membership- Membership Type and Welcome Message (Edit) <-- click the edit- select restricted- click save changes

  2. Sounds like you need to change the Membership Type setting for your group. To view your current setting and change it:

    - Go to your group home page and click on "Management" in the left margin.

    - Under Group Settings, click "Membership"

    - Your Membership Type is listed at the top of the Group Settings page.  I suspect yours is set to "Open".

    - Click on "Edit" next to the title line. You will be able to change Membership Type and some other things.

    - Click on the "Save Changes" button at the top right when you've modified things to your satisfaction.

Explore the other links on the management page to get a feel for the things you can control as moderator.

    Have fun!
