As new prospects are compensated, Ozzie Guillen may join the Florida Marlins – MLB News
A day after the Chicago White Sox veteran manager Ozzie Guillen announced he was leaving the club two new names from the Florida Marlins have popped up as the prospects ready to compensate for Guillen. The Minor Leaguers Jhan Marinez and Osvaldo Martinez
are now formally a part of the compensation for Guillen now.
Ozzie Guillen who is said to have agreed to a contract with the Florida Marlins will sign next week. As for Jhan Marinez, he is fourth in the rank and Martinez follows with sixth rank in the Florida Marlins’ franchise.
Having served the team for eight consecutive years, Ozzie Guillen made a startling revelation on Monday to his players that the game would be the last as the manager. As the news spread, it also came to light that his next destination would be the Florida
Marlins.
A lot of matters that did not surface due to the sensitive nature had to do with the extension of his contract. "The problem's not resolved," said Guillen, who met with White Sox chairman Jerry Reinsdorf. "I told [Reinsdorf] that I don't want to come here
with the same contract I have for next year. I think I've earned a little bit more than that."
There were a few names that made the rounds soon after the announcement of his departure. The biggest name that caught the media’s attention and added to much speculation was that of the Cleveland Indians’ manager Tony La Russa. No words, since then, have
credibly come forth.
The potential of Dave Martinez, Minor League director Buddy Bell and Triple-A Charlotte manager Joe McEwing is the talk of the town. Nonetheless, with the compensation of the Florida Marlins’ new prospects, it can now be reliably said that Guillen is all
prepared for leading the Florida Marlins.
Although the Chicago White Sox failed to live up to the expectations of the fans and Guillen could not somehow generate a fighting spirit in the team this time, there is a great deal of certainty that the Marlins will have a tremendous boost once he formally
becomes part of the team.
