  1. From the HLSDA site on homeschooling in Illinois:

"In order to avoid truancy actions, home schoolers who are contacted may wish to file a “statement of assurance” with the local school district or send form ISBE 87-01, (the “Nonpublic Registration, Enrollment and Staff Report”) to the Illinois Department of Education in order to show their good faith. This statement of assurance and the form, however, are voluntary, and parents are not required by law to initiate filing either of them. Parents who fill out either of these forms when contacted by Illinois school authorities do so simply to indicate that their private school."

You also might contact a few local homeschool parents to find out what tha local 'norm' for compliance with the laws it. Hes a list of Illinois homeschool groups:

    Best of luck to you!

  2. ASAP contact your local Administration Building of the school nearest to your house.  Tell them you want to be homeschooled and ask what is the acceptable way.

In my state the adult has to have a college degree and varify what they will be teaching the child.  There are tests and rules that must be adhered to and often there is a charter school or an on line program that the school will recommend.

    Good luck

  3. Here's a chart showing the regulations:

Basically, you just have your parents notify your school district (so they don't try to call you for truancy), choose your curriculum, and go for it.

    Hope that helps!

  4. Not quite an answer, but here's an interesting site about a time when home schooling a child could land the parents in court:

Take a look here...there's some good links at the site to information on home schooling curriculum and other stuff.
