As powerful and influencial as American is, you would think there would be mention of us in Prophecy?

Question

....about when the end is near?

Isn't there a passage in the Bible, and I forget where, that it talks about a Nation that is awesome from its beginning and a symbol of an Eagle is used in reference to this Country? And the USA bird is an "Eagle".

Do you think that this is possibly referenced to the USA?

What are your thoughts? Do you know the passage I am talking about? I can't seem to find in the Concordance of where I can find this info.

While the following scripture does not specifically say "America", it certainly alludes to it as being one of the nations - Joel 3:2 - "I will also gather all nations, and will bring them down into the valley of Jehoshaphat, and will plead with them there for my people and for my heritage Israel, whom they have scattered among the nations, and parted my land."  As part of the "Roadmap to Peace", the United States is actively engaged in talks with the Palestinians and Israel to divide Jerusalem; the administration hopes to have some sort of an agreement by January, 2009.  This is a very, very dangerous path for the United States to be taking prophetically, because as you read in the scripture in Joel, all nations that have parted God's land will be dealt with by God Himself.  I really pray for our sakes that this Roadmap to Peace is abandoned, but if it isn't, then it would certainly point to the "end being near".

As for the reference to the "eagle", some people believe the following verse in Revelation refers to the United States helping Israel during the middle of the Tribulation period - Revelation 13:14 - "And to the woman (Israel) were given two wings of a "great eagle", that she might fly into the wilderness, into her place, where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent."  I'm not so convinced that this refers to the United States, especially since our administration seems to be pressing forward with dividing Jerusalem.  Seems to me any nation, including our own, that has anything to do with parting God's land will face His wrath, because He loves Jerusalem and her people and we should also.  I hope this has helped you some.  God bless!!!

Well, some people think the eagle is a symbol of America. It broke off of the lion - which is interpreted to be England.

Many eschatologists believe that America will either be destroyed (go figure - look at all the immoral stuff going on - wouldn't be surprised at this scenario); or

America will lose its status as a world superpower and succumb to the sovereignty of the up and coming European Union.

I keep hearing that the globe will soon be divided into 10 regions (10 kingdoms that Revelation speaks of perhaps?) - if that does turn out to be true, the US will just be sucked in to all of that.

OK here's the scoop:

NOBODY can see into the future.....Nostradamus was a fraud......Ms Cleo is a big phony.....if psychic detectives really were "psychic" they'd be used ALOT more often (and why aren't people with such "abilities" living high off the hog?)....the men who wrote the bible 2000 years ago were not predicting the future; the bible was never meant to be taken literally, it's a series of metaphors aimed at folks who were illiterate and ignorant of much of the world around them.

Ghosts,vampires and werewolves don't exist.....bigfoot is an urban myth........voodoo and santeria are lame; if the c**p worked how come the places where they're practiced are SO poor and backward? Haiti should be like Switzerland if voodoo worked.

Some folks (especially ladies) think they have "special" gifts: what they have is emotions heavily influenced by hormones, genes, and environment ..... the other ones are scamming people.

Oh, and the eagle was the symbol of the Roman Empire, which is alluded to heavily throughout the "prophecies."

Yes, I've read that passage, but it is Daniel that I prefer to find out about America which is Rome revived, the last kingdom of iron and clay.

America is the revived Roman empire in Nebuchadnezzar;s dream.

I don't think America will be around during the trib. period I think America will fall. The rule of the Anti-christ, the battle of Armageddon and the millenuial reign of Christ will take place in Israel.
