  1. Breaking down of gender barriers is a good thing, because it means more individual free will and less condemnation of society for someone choosing what they want to do just because it's contrary to their s*x. I can't see why it's a bad thing - if you personally want to keep to what was traditionally your gender role, you still can, no problem. It's just that not everyone else has to as well.

  2. The distinction between the sexes will never fade because s*x is a permanent and unchanging condition.  Either one has male parts or female parts, and that's it.

The distinction between the genders is changing.  I don't believe that it's fading though.  If anything, it's getting more and more bright as people are starting to see that one can do anything they set their mind to(and should have the freedom to do it) regardless of their gender.

I think that it's a good thing, and it's allowing the uplifting of women instead of holding them down in one place.

  3. Not really fade, but accept others for chosing a different lifestyle.

  4. I think its great that gender stereotypes are fading so we can do what we love instead of doing what people think we should do because of our gender. More choices the better.

  5. I think it happens because in a modernized society where all our needs are met, the distinct gender roles are no longer needed. In a society where you don't need lots of children to manage the family farm, where child mortality rates are low, where you don't have dangerous activities like hunting for food or tribal warfare going on, you don't really need either s*x to stick to its assigned roles and strengths.

Women are freer to do whatever they want because the necessity for having children is less (and with the invention of birth control, it's harder to get pregnant without meaning to, so women don't have to be as reserved in their interactions with men). Men are freer because physical strength is no longer their greatest, most necessary asset--they don't have to worry about defending or being the sole supporter of their families like in premodern times.

I think it's a good thing that members of both sexes have more freedom to explore and be themselves now. However, as with any social change there are dangers--just because we don't need lots of children, for example, doesn't mean that having children is obsolete. Or being a stay-at-home mom, or being a masculine man, or any of those things. No need to throw the baby out with the bathwater.

  6. I think it's a good thing. It means that the distinction between the individuals within each s*x is becoming more pronounced — you can't tell me that's a downside.
