As the 2010 season unwraps for Button...

The World Champion of 2009, Jenson Button is striving hard to have his title safeguarded but the chances do not seem very vivid.
This year has seen a lot of drama and thrill on the track, as fifteen races of the season have already gone and one cannot still call a single driver to be the strongest this season.  The top five drivers of the season stand with
a difference of just twenty four points and only five more races are to go.
Button who was driving with Mercedes GP last year was able to bag  six out of the first seven races of 2009 season thus making his victory almost certain before half of the season unfolded, yet this year the nail biting situation
continues till now, while the season has reached its final stages.
Currently Button stands at fourth place in the Drivers’ Championship having bagged a total of one hundred and sixty five points, one place behind Fernando Alonso of Ferrari being short of just a single point.
As the British driver moved to McLaren at the start of the year, many believed that he had made a wrong move as the team was said to be ‘Lewis Hamilton’s team’ and it was expected that the charisma and stardom of Hamilton would
over shadow Button however, he proved all speculations wrong. He has not only cemented a strong place in the team but also the two team drivers are thought to be one of the finest pair in Formula One squad this year.
The season started off average for the driver as he finished the first race at seventh place in Bahrain. However, the very next race brought a spark for him as he bagged victory at the Australian Grand Prix.
He started the Malaysian Grand Prix from seventeenth place on the grid and ended at eighth, jumping nine places on the race day, showing exceptionally great racing skills.
At the Chinese Grand Prix, the stars of the racer were bright once again as he claimed second race win of the season, returning home with a total of sixty points all together.
He marked fifth place at the Spanish Grand Prix while the next race of the season hosted by Monte Carlo Circuit brought him home pointless as he retired from the race after having a severe engine problem.
Things started turning great for McLaren from the Turkish Grand Prix onwards as the two Red Bull drivers crashed into each other in the final laps thus giving a one-two finish to the McLaren men, settling Button at second place
on the podium.
The next race at Montreal repeated the same one-two finish for the team as Button once again followed his teammate’s tail.
The European Grand Prix gave another podium to the driver as he started the race from seventh place and had it finished at third.
Once again great racing skills were showcased by the driver at Silverstone as Button leaped ten places on race weekend as he started his race from fourteenth place and ended at fourth.
At the German Grand Prix he started, as well as ended the race at fifth place followed by the Hungarian Grand Prix where he finished at eighth place.
The weekend in Belgium has been the worst one for him all through the season as he had to retire from the race after having crashed with Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel. The pointless race left the driver very depressed as well as
dimmed his chances of defending his title.
However, he was successful in scoring some good points at the last race in Italy where he ended at second position.
Well, five races of the season are yet to go and a couple of more podium finishes could help him save his title.
