why do so many offshoots of that religion hate it so much?

Surely, only the original religion can be the correct version, the offshoots are a misguided and twisted version.

  1. What we today (or during the days of the Reformation) know as the "Roman Catholic Church" was decidedly NOT the same thing as what the apostles founded.

  2. Well, shucks.  The reverse argument.  Always self-righteous absolutes.  Paul's little self-promotion the beginning of Christianity?  Get real!

I have no love for Catholicism, but none also for all self-righteous Christianity.

  3. They lie about it being the foundation and make up all kinds of things against it. They are jealous of her

  4. maybe because "the correct version" had been misguided and twisted.... shall i mention all the thing that Catholics were doing that were completely against the Bible?

  5. Catholicism started in 606 AD. Pope Boniface III is the founder of the Roman Catholic church.

Christianity started in AD33 in the 2nd chapter of acts in the day of Pentecost. Christ body or church has been around since that time.

Some have even said that Emperor Constantine started an earlier form of  Catholicism, and if this is true that was still almost 300 years after the original church in Acts chapter 2.

They name Christian was adopted shortly after wards as recorded in Acts 11

Acts 11:26 - And when he had found him, he brought him unto Antioch. And it came to pass, that a whole year they assembled themselves with the church, and taught much people. And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch.

Show us the word "Catholic" in the holy bible written 1 time?

  6. Lack of an understanding of truth.  We must pray fast and do penance for the conversion of souls

  7. Some are still protesting. Temper tantrums.

  8. "misguided and twisted" sounds like a lot of things

  9. To defend and adhere to the Truth is hard and it is above all humbling. Most people want easy and run away from humility. That's how a lot of the break always from Catholicism can be explained.

Those who broke away could either not fight their passions or their pride. It is unfortunate but God still loves them so we must as well. Once they cease to be blinded by passions and pride they will once again recognize the one and True Holy Church instituted by Christ. The Bible presupposes Church and Tradition to defend it and propagate it, it is contradictory to say you are a Bible Christian but not to withhold the authority of one, True, Holy Church as Christ would have instituted

  10. Surely Jesus is the foundation of Christianity.

I know He's the foundation of mine.

And other foundation shall no man lay  :)

  11. Because of narrow-minded, intolerant jerks like you

  12. catzilla's right. they're still protesting and throwing tantrums.

  13. You hit it right on the head.  It is because of the people who created the offshoots.  They did not agree with the church, so they decided to drop what they didn't like and create their own church.  You know what is really bogus is that they accuse us Catholics of being violent and forcing conversions etc...  When not only are they just as guilty, but they also killed Catholics, just for being Catholic.  If they want to call us the w***e of babylon, they should remember, that they came from this church, so that makes them the b*****d children.

  14. lack of knowledge mainly and refusal to learn anything else

  15. Roman Catholic church was not the foundation of Christianity started by Christ himself.

  16. Though the Catholic Church proclaims papal succession, you are assuming an awful lot.

The followers of Jesus' teachings were first called "Christians" in Antioch (Acts 11). They were not called "Catholics."

  17. Read the writings of the early church fathers , the primacy of the pope (bishop of rome) is well documented along with many of the catholic sacraments like confession and eucharist. All the texts were written before 250 AD. Protestants usually avoid these texts.

  18. Nothing in the Bible talks about the Catholic Church.  Christ, not the Catholic Church, was the founder of Christianity.  The Catholic Church was formed many centuries after Christ.  A lot of people didn't like the politics, the corruption, and the greed affiliated with it, so they created their own churches to try and avoid those problems.

  19. If you really want to know the truth about Catholicism and the  Protestants, go back and read the book called, "The Trail Of Blood" by J M Carroll; it is available on the net by typing Trail Of Blood into the search line and bringing it up.

This history of the church is the best, most accurate book that I have ever read on the subject.  Mr Carroll gives a lot of references that one can look up to verify the honesty of his writings. It shows the evolution of the church from the time of Jesus up until a few years ago.

Yes, I am a born again Christian.

  20. "why do so many offshoots of that religion hate it so much?"

They're just jealous that they didn't invent it first.

They REALLY resent the truth of the matter that they wouldn't have a scam going if catholics didn't invent the original.

"only the original religion can be the correct version"

So, you're suggesting that there is a correct scam and an incorrect scam.

    Interesting.

  21. The whole thing is crazy. Catholicism is the root of all Christian religions. They don't have to like it but to claim otherwise is to lie.

CHRIS, you are wrong. (Again.) A Christian is a person who believes in Jesus Christ. Catholics believe in Jesus Christ and are therefore Christians. Being a Wiccan myself, I am hardly a Catholic apologetic, but you need to stop spreading these ridiculous lies. It is one thing to state your beliefs and quite another to just make things up that fit your view and pass them off as factual.

  22. If you don't understand Christianity, than read the Holy Bible. Don't sit there and ask rhetorical questions, that incite resentment, about stuff you don't even understand.

  23. I wouldn't be so uncharitable as to say they're misguided or twisted.  The Church states that many Christian faith communities which have their roots in the Reformation have at least part of it right, and are certainly considered our brothers and sisters in Christ.  (Not that some of them acknowledge the relationship.)

For those who do seem to hate the Church, it's a matter of biting the hand that fed them.  But since our Savior prayed before His arrest that we would all be one, I have no doubt in my mind that someday it will happen.

  24. You have to understand the history of Christianity.

The Church being run by men, men are not perfect. About a thousand years ago, there was the Great Eastern Schism. This was the great break between the Eastern Orthodox Church, who refused to acknowledge the Pope, and the Roman Catholic Church.

This was followed by reformists such as Calvin and Luther. They recognized corruption in the Church by popes such as those from the Medici family and the selling of indulgences in order to raise money. They never wanted to actually break away from the Church, only to reform it and remove the corruption.

And then came King Henry VIII. He wanted to divorce Catherine of Aragon. The Pope wouldn't let him because his marriage to Catherine was valid. Anne Boleyn convinced Henry that because he was the king, there was no reason he should take orders from anyone, not even the Pope, and that HE should be the head of the Church of England, all because she wanted to be Queen. And we all know how well that turned out for HER.

So Henry VIII broke away from the church all so he could obtain a divorce from a valid marriage, just 'cause his proper wife was getting a bit older in years.

It doesn't help, any, that Henry's older daughter, Mary, executed all those who were not of the Catholic faith. That led to further protesting from Protestants. Then Elizabeth I came on the throne and started an anti-Catholic crusade, having been raised by her Protestant mother and step-mothers.

In England, further protesting was brought about also because the Pope supported Scottish independance.

It's sad that we have so much denominalization, especially when almost nothing is condemned more strongly in scripture. Christ himself asked "that they may all be one," and St. Paul rebuked those that said "I am of Peter" or "I am of Paul" when we are all of Christ.

  25. Don't you just love the nutters who post Qs in here, and the bigger nutters who give barmpot answers? To say catholic is not a christian is just plain stupid.
