  1. Since 1/f = 1/v + 1/u (where f = focal length of lens, v = image distance, u = object distance) if object distance (u) increases, then image distance (v) must decrease to maintain the equation.


  2. for a concave lens, as the object moves farther away, the image moves closer to the lens on the other side and also decreases in size. For a concave lens, it's the opposite (the image is on the same side as the object and moves away from lens as object is moving away) but the image still decreases in size
