As velocity increases, does pebble/bedload size decrease?

  1. Increases. The greater the velocity the larger the size of pebble that can be moved.


  2. As velocity increases, the bedload and pebble size both increase because there is more energy to move it.

    As velocity drops, this is the order the debris will fall out at.

    boulder

    gravel

    pebble

    sand

    silt

    clay

    So as you can see, when everything is dropped out, clay will still be carried, yet boulders and gravel drop out the quickest because so much energy is needed to carry them.
