Ascot brings the highest level of competition with Silviniaco Conti and Bobs Worth in contention
The Grade 2 Sodexo Prestige Reynoldstown Novices’ Chase is scheduled to take place at Ascot on 18th February, 2012.
7 contenders will be racing for the purse of £14,134 across a track of 3 miles.
The runners who will be competing for this purse are Bobs Worth, Silviniaco Conti, Helpston, Invictus, Alfie Spinner, Baile Anrai, and Our Island.
Bobs Worth had stellar performances last year. He was race favourite 4 times and won all four times.
The son of Bob Back out Fashionista stood first on 1st January 2011, at Cheltenham in the Neptune Investment Management Novices’ Hurdle where he beat Rose Of The Moon.
His next victory came on 29th January, 2011, at the same racecourse, in the Neptune Investment Management Novices’ Hurdle, registered as Grade 2 Classic Novices’ Hurdle Race.
This victory was followed by another victory over Cue Card at Newbury in the Grade 2 Fuller’s London Pride Novices’ Chase on 25th November 2011.
Silviniaco Conti will be also be for the first time in 2012.
Like Bobs Worth, his last run was impressive. The son of Dom Alco out of Gazelle Lulu finished 1st on 5th November, 2011, at Wincanton, in the Grade 2 Totetentofollow.co.uk Rising Stars Novices’ Chase by defeating Mad Moose.
Helpston is another tough competitor with a successful finish to 2011.
This will be his seasonal debut and his trainer, Pam Sly is hoping his performance will exceed expectations.
The son of Sir Harry Lewis out of Chichell’s Hurst secured a first place victory at Fakenham on 15th November, 2011, in the Prince’s Trust Novices Chase, defeating Larks Lad.
He secured a second place in the Grade 3 Betfair. Don’t Settle For Less Rowland Meyrick Handicap Chase at Wetherby on 26th December, 2011.
Invictus, son of Flemensfirth out of Clashwilliam Girl, scored a hat-trick in 2011 but his seasonal debut was less impressive.
He finished 3rd at Cheltenham in the Grade 2 Cheltenham Pony Club Raceday Novices’ Chase on 1st January, 2012.
Alfie Spinner’s seasonal debut was less impressive than his performance in 2011. The son of Alflora out of Little Red Spider finished second in the Betfred 1350 Shops Nationwide Novices’ Chase at Warwick on 14th January, 2012.
Baile Anrai, son of Norwich out of Rose Ana, had an impressive seasonal debut when he was triumphant over Valid Point in the Leicester Annual Members Novices’ Chase at Leicester on 10th January, 2012.
It is safe to say that Our Island is the weakest contender of this race as he finished 6th in his last race at Chepstow, in the Grade 3 Coral Welsh National Handicap Chase on 27th December, 2011.
The 7-year-old’s trainer, Tim Vaughan is hopeful that his season in 2012 will begin in a much better manner.
With a line-up this outstanding, it is difficult to say who will conquer this race.
Silviniaco Conti and Bobs Worth are gaining the attention of the spectators and punters, but nothing is definite.
