  1. You may find these places crowded. To be able to get about and enjoy the atmosphere, go to a local track, as at this stage of your "career" the quality of racing might not be important to you. After all you cannot tell just by looking at them how good they are. If it's quality you are after and a pleasant afternoon you cannot beat the July meeting at Newmarket 9th 10th 11th for flat racing nor Cheltenham over the jumps.

  2. Glorious Goodwood every time!

While the racing at Ascot is of doubtless high quality, a lot of people that go are there "to be seen".

Goodwood, however, is full of true racegoers, and on a sunny Summer's day there is no better place on Earth to be!  I shall be there myself on Goodwood Cup Day.

  3. Definitely not Ascot, stay home and enjoy it on the TV.

I went to ladies day last year and for one it rained and apart from  that we couldn't get anywhere near the horses for people.  Ended up watching the whole thing on the tele standing in Ladbrokes betting area in the General Enclosure for which we paid the pleasure of £50 to get in.

If you love to see the horses and some good racing it must be Goodwood.  Have fun.
