Asdrubal Cabrera sparks as Cleveland Indians beat Chicago White Sox 11-2 - MLB Update
Cleveland Indians’ short-stop, Asdrubal Cabrera had a memorable day with the bat as he struck five RBIs including a one-run homer and went 3-for-5 with an average of .276 in the Indians’ 11-2 win against the Chicago White Sox at Progressive Field, Cleveland
on September 22.
Indians’ batters stepped on the gas to score two runs and got a 2-0 lead at the bottom of first inning. Kosuke Fukudome hit a solo homer (403 feet) to right-centre and Jason Kipnis struck a one-run homer (400 feet) towards centre-field to give the Indians
a solid start. The batters did not execute well from the second to fourth inning.
Brent Morel walked and Juan Pierre singled during the third but Alejandro flied out and Alexei Ramirez ground out to the pitcher without any run contribution. Similarly, Indians’ catcher Carlos Santana ground out to first base while Cabrera and Travis Hafner
both ground out to second base without taking any run.
In the fifth inning, White Sox posted their initial two runs to tie the game while Indians also added two runs to take a 4-2 lead. De Aza and Morel both scored two runs jointly when Pierre bunted a single-run drive towards centre-field. Later on, Pierre
advanced to second base on the throwing error of Indians’ Cabrera.
On the other side, Jack Hannahan and Ezequiel Carrera both contributed two consecutive runs for Indians when Fukudome drove towards left-centre. At the bottom of the sixth, Hafner posted a single run to give the Indians a 5-2 lead when Matt LaPorta reached
second base on an infield single.
The batters smashed four quick runs for Cleveland in the seventh inning and gave their team a 9-2 lead. Cabrera struck a three-run homer (398 feet) to right-field while Carrera and Fukudome scored two runs. Grady Sizemore hit a single-run drive to right-field
and Cord Phelps added one run. During the eighth inning, Indians’ batters posted two runs to take an 11-2 lead.
Indians’ starter Jeanmar Gomez pitched his six innings with an ERA of 3.52 and had three strike-outs. He gave away two runs and four hits.
Hannahan and Carrera both contributed two runs when Cabrera singled off centre-field and Kipnis moved to third base. As a result, the Indians levelled the four-game series 2-2 after defeating the White Sox in the series decider.
