Asdrubal Cabrera’s five RBIs helps Cleveland Indians beat Cincinnati Reds 12-4 – MLB Update

Cleveland Indians successfully completed their three-game sweep against Cincinnati Reds winning 12-4 at Progressive Field, Cleveland on Sunday, May 22.
Asdrubal Cabrera had a career high five RBIs that included two homers that contributed to the emphatic win for the Cleveland Indians. He was a one-man show at the plate," Indians manager Manny Acta said. "He was unbelievable. He was on every pitch, and he
has played like an All-Star for us since Day One."
Sunday’s game kicked off with Joey Votto’s single for Cincinnati when Carlos Carrasco came pitching for the Indians. However, Cabrera soon unleashed his batting fury and earned a two-run homer in the very first inning. Orlando Cabrera hit the second two-run
homer of the inning, making it a 4-1 lead for the Indians at the end of first inning.
Shin-Soo Choo singled to right on a vulnerable pitch of Edinson Volquez and took the score to 5-1. Volquez gave up a total of three hits in the inning and allowed five runs in the first two innings.
Asdrubal hit the second two-run homer of the game in the third inning, punishing Volquez once again, whose performance has raised serious questions lately. Cabrera’s homer piled up the score to 7-1 followed by a single of Jay Bruce in the fourth inning for
the Reds that brought the score down to 7-2.
While Volquez was struggling to contain the Indians’ offence, Carrasco pitched effective innings, succeeding to keep the Reds’ hitters under tremendous pressure.
However, Carrasco gave up two hits and allowed two runs in the sixth inning that allowed Votto and Brandon Phillips of Cincinnati Reds to score a single each, bringing the lead down to 7-4 by the end of the sixth inning.
Asdrubal got his fifth run of the game and the team’s eighth in the sixth inning as Cleveland came back in the game with a 8-4 lead. The seventh inning opened the floodgates of runs for the Indians as Jack Hannahan, Michael Brantley, Asdrubal Cabrera and
Shin-Soo Choo scored a single each to bring the game totally under their control at 12-4.
Rafael Perez and Josh Judy pitched shut-out eighth and ninth innings to pave the way for a 12-4 victory for Cleveland against Cincinnati.
The first sweep for Cleveland Indians that comes in no less than seven years was a morale booster for the team. The performance throughout this series proves that they are going to be a tough side to grapple with in days to come. It will be interesting to
see how they carry their winning momentum forward to the next game.
