Asdrubal Cabrera’s four RBIs help Cleveland Indians defeat Boston Red Sox 9-6 - MLB Update
Cleveland Indians’ short-stop, Asdrubal Cabrera had a brilliant day with the bat as he hit four RBIs including two home runs and went 3-for-5 with an average of .293 in the Indians’ 9-6 win against the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park, Boston on August 1.
During the first inning, Indians’ left-fielder Michael Brantley and Jason Kipnis both struck-out swinging and Cabrera grounded out towards second base. Similarly, the Red Sox batters were also unable to hit properly and got out at shortstop, Adrian Gonzalez
and David Ortiz popped out. At centre-field, Jacoby Ellsbury flied-out.
Red Sox scored their first run during the second inning and took a 1-0 lead. Marco Scutaro singled towards right-field, Jarrod Saltalamacchia posted a single and Josh Reddick moved to third base. Indians got off the mark with a tie run at the top of the
third inning when Ezequiel Carrera added one run on the double-run shot of Brantley towards deep right-field.
At the bottom of the third inning, the Red Sox contributed two runs to go-ahead 3-1. Kevin Youkilis tripled to deep centre-field and Gonzalez scored a single run. Carl Crawford hit a solo homer towards right-field to raise the lead of the Red Sox. The Indians
were able to reduce their lead 3-2 during the fourth inning when Kosuke Fukudome hit a grounder towards second base and Cabrera posted one run.
Indians’ starter, Josh Tomlin was little bit shaky with his pitching as he gave up five runs on ten hits and pitched his six innings with an ERA of 4.16. He permitted five earned runs and had two strike-outs on his 94 pitches. Indians scored three runs at
the top of the sixth while the Red Sox put two runs on the score-board to tie the game 5-5.
Cabrera struck a two-run homer to right-field and Kipnis posted a single run. Travis Hafner also homered towards right-centre to lift the potential of the Indians. On the other side, Saltalamacchia homered to right-field and Crawford added a tie run. In
the eighth inning, the Indians’ batters blasted three runs to get an 8-5 lead.
Both teams added one individual run to their score-card to move it 9-6. However, the Indians took a 1-0 lead in a four-game series played at Fenway Park.
