  1. It's Arabic for, " I witness that there is no God but Allah(i.e., God in Arabic) and that Muhammad(PBUH) is the Messenger of God."

    It is the basis for the Islamic faith and is the sentence used by new muslims to convert to Islam and declare their conversion.
