  1. The current King of Ashanti is King Otumfuo Osei Tutu, who is the 16th Asantehene, King of the Ashanti. He ascended the Golden Stool on 26 April 1999. By name, he is in direct succession to the founder of the Empire of Ashanti, Otumfuo Osei Tutu I. Born on 6 May 1950, and named Barima Kwaku Dua, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, he is the youngest of the five children of Nana Afua Kobi Serwaa Ampem, II, Asantehemaa (Queen mother of Asante). His nephew is Ghanaian/American professional wrestler Prince Nana.

The current heir to the Ashante crown is Prince Nana Osei Bandoh, who is an American professional wrestler of Ghanaian extraction, better known by his ring name, Prince Nana. He also claims to be an Ashanti prince. You may be a royal member of the Ashanti Kingdom and possibly be titled "Princess" as a descent of a past Ashanti King, however, you will never be crowned Queen unless you marry the Ashanti King or his heir to the throne. I'm not sure how the line of succession works for this country, however, there is already an heir to the current throne.

  2. Osei is a very old and frequent name in Asante royalty, including the current king, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, 16th Asantehene, King of the Asante .

Being a princess does not mean you will automatically be a queen.  The rulership passes to males and you don't get to be queen unless you are married to the king.  Or if you are the mother of the king then you are called the queen mother. The inheritance has not always gone to the son of the former king, it might be a nephew.  In fact maybe it has more commonly been a nephew? It should be someone who is the grandson of a king. So you're probably out of luck on being a queen - -but it's pretty cool you are an Asante Princess!

An older person in your family should be able to explain Asante (Ashanti/Ashante) royalty/ nobility better than most people on YA. Maybe your mother can tell you how you are related in the genealogy in the link below.

I hope you will get to go to Ghana and meet your royal relation the King of the Asante.
