am I right in saying that England are going to get absolutely destroyed next year against Australia?

They are being taken to school by the South Africans and just begs the question what are the Aussies going to do to us!

  1. Don't you worry, they will come back to their best, they always do. I remember despairing of Australia ever winning another match 20 or so years  ago, but look at them now. We all go througgh bad patches.

  2. this team could be unbeatable all they need is abit of confidence and a decent wicket keeper who can get runs, james foster of essex is a great wicket keper batsmen

  3. i agree we need simon jones back to full fitness and harmi in a right state of mind because broad (on the bowling side) isn't up to much and seems more of a batter.also the batting lineup needs to be strengthened as it is looking weak apart from cook strauss and kp

  4. I strongly feel that England will not be able to defeat Australia and win the series.

  5. Our Aussie boys are going to kick England's butt's in the Ashes..And we are going to retain the Ashes too...

Sorry Kookee always next time mate...lol

  6. I'm not a young man and have been watching cricket as long as I can remember.

My feeling is that English cricket has never been in such a low state.

Top players are becoming very rich nowadays, as in other sports - and I assume that this is part of the reason. Maybe they don't have to try quite as hard.

It's even difficult to select a half-decent team now.

It's time they were being shaken up a bit, in preparation for next year's onslaught by the Aussies.

  7. No, your not right.

    We have:

A captain who is currently in very poor personal batting form and lacks confidence. This will rub off on the rest of the team. But its not permanent, and class willl always come out. He hasn't become a permantly bad batsman overnight.

An unreliable bowling attack. Harmison is currently is fairly decent form at Durham, but stick him in the Test side and he falls apart. He has a LONG way to go to prove he is ready for inclusion again. Panesar is the best of a frankly mediocre bunch of English spinners, and his fielding is not even county standard. Anderson & Sidebottom have one good match followed by three bad ones. Broad is still a kid, but is showing he's a better batsman than a bowler. Flintoff is over-used, and therefore tires quickly.

The batting is as strong in terms of potential class as it ever was, although I would have Rob Key instead of the uninspiring and dull Strauss.

SA are a very good side, second only to the Aussies...we aren't doing THAT bad against them.

  8. We are fighting back against SA if you have noticed - we have a lead of 214 and the highest sucessful run chase at Edgbaston is 211-3 by England against New Zealand in 1999 (When Alex Tudor got 99* as nightwatchman).

And we've got a certain Mr Flintoff that will get the crowd going as he did yesterday when he was bowling to Kallis.

  9. Short answer is NO, the long answer is maybe

Changes DO need to be made, BUT only small changes and nothing drastic.

If the current England team played Australia in a weeks time, we would not get "destroyed" infact we would have a good chance of beating them. Australia a far weaker side than they were 4 years ago, South Africa in many people's opinion are level with Australia now.

Without Warne, McGrath and Gilchrist Australia are a shadow of there former selves and are not capable of "destroying" big teams anymore

    Anyway... Back to the question

England need to make a few changes to have the "perfect" side for next years Ashes

    My changes would be

    * Prior in for Ambrose

    * Simon Jones in for Collingwood (or Strauss)

YES the current W/K situation has to be changed, Ambrose although doing a marvellous job in this current test match, is not good enough to be playing test cricket for England. On the other hand Prior is a batsmen who turned into a WK so he is capable of performing with bat and gloves

Jones in for Collingwood (or Strauss) is simple. England need to play 5 bowlers against Australia to win!! Jones is one the best bowlers in the world when fit and in form!! and has a great record over the old enemy

    So to sum up

I agree that England need to make changes, but i believe these changes only need to be minor

I disagree that England would get "destroyed" by Australia. Australia are a shadow of there former selves

Oh yeah DO NOT get rid of Vaughan, form is temporary class is permanent!! Vaughan averaged 47 last year!! him being dropped would stink of panic and would unsettle a dressing room, that needs a Vaughan like leader!

  10. I am noT A YOUNG MAN AND i DON'T KNOW WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOU!!!!!   I have  been watching England play since the days of Boycott and Edrich and this is one of the most talented XI I can recall.  There is a great team spirit and the captain is the best since Mike Brearley.  Go Collie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  11. i have been watching the england test and i think some changes are needed they need to get rid of cook strauss vaughan and collingwood and panesar. they have v good players in pietersen bell ambrose flintoff anderson broad and sidebottom and if they can get players in to make runs they should not be destroyed by the aussies.
