Ashes Sydney Test: ‘Definitely our day’ says Tim Bresnan
England made the most of the home conditions to land another blow to the debilitated Australians who were found struggling on the first day of the fifth and final Ashes Test. The conditions at Sydney were very similar to the English conditions and England
made the most of the opportunity as they picked early wickets. Tim Bresnan starred in the English performance by taking 2 crucial wickets for 47 runs. Despite making a very purposeful start, the Kangaroos started to fade away as they lost crucial wickets.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Yorkshire-c867 bowler Tim Bresnan had a good time bowling on the rather green pitch that was similar to the one found at home.
Michael http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Phillip-Hughes-c2185 was the first to depart of the bowling of Chris Tremlett who delivered an exceptional ball that forced Hughes to nick it to Paul Collingwood in second slip.
"It's always good to get the first punch in and we certainly did get the first punch in. Definitely, our day. I think it was very English conditions that we got today. The first session, we bowled really well and forced them to play in their shell a little
bit. Obviously after lunch... they played a few more shots which helped us pick up a few more wickets. It was good for us,” Bresnan said.
The English bowlers have been in exceptional form throughout the Ashes with their attack being led by James Anderson along with the likes of Tremlett, Bresnan and Finn. Andrew Strauss had earlier stated that retaining the urn was just one step. Their ultimate
goal was to win the series and they would do their best to ensure that. England are currently leading the five match series 2-1. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 can still draw the series if they manage to win the last match, however that does not seem very likely at present as
the Kangaroos are struggling.
“We were happy with first use of that pitch. I think we were going to bowl first anyway, the way it (pitch) looked and the overhead conditions, so we were definitely pleased with the first use of it. It's only going to get better," Bresnan claimed.
It will surely help the Poms improve their Test rankings if they win the series against Australia.
