Ashes Update: Exhausted Aussies encourage England
England wants to capitalize on the lingering fatigue of the Australian bowlers, who failed to impress in the drawn Ashes opener. The news came from Adelaide, where the next match of the all heated up series, will be played. It seems that Andy Flower, the coach of the England team, is very optimistic regarding his team’s performance. He has already taken the bad bowling form of the Aussies into account, suggesting that the English batting performance will adjust accordingly, this time.
According to England’s coach, the Adelaide Test would provide the chance to follow it through, against their wearied opponents. “I think in reality, yes, that is the case” explained the coach, answering the question of how to dominate, the Aussies. He looked confident in expressing his views that the fatigue has set in for the Kangaroo bowlers, after long spells. Confidence and consistency were his two factors in scoring psychological points, against the opponents. He explained that there is a connection between the two, as being the determining factors, so that victory can be claimed. The visitors are speculating the spinner, Graeme Swann, to be more prominent in the Adelaide encounter. He managed just two wickets, for 161 runs off 50 overs, in Brisbane. Historically, the Adelaide Oval pitch turns and is expected to give support to spinners. The visitors have already started to anticipate assistance in terms of meaningful spin, for their star bowler.
The Aussies on the other hand are disappointed from the misfiring, Mitchell Johnson. This is the first time he has ended with such gloomy figures, in his 39 tests. This was not all. He scored an 18 ball duck and dropped a catch in the field, reflecting the miserable form he was in. Ian Chappell seems to be the leading critic of the time. He criticized the pacer for going wicket-less, in Brisbane, with 170 odd runs and said,
“Mitchell Johnson has lost his confidence and must be dropped for the second test”
This has prompted the former players to ask for his axing, for the next match. The 2009 ICC Cricketer of the year struggled throughout, last year’s Ashes series loss in England, as well. Chappell was adamant that there is no other option for the team management, and they must drop him, prior to the next battle.
