Ashish Nehra disappointed over his non-selection – Cricket News Update
Ashish Nehra, the Indian left-arm pacer, is extremely disappointed over his non-selection in the squad for the first two One-Day Internationals against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013, scheduled to commence on October 14, 2011.
"I have submitted my fitness certificate before the ODI series in England. I was ignored when they even summoned http://www.senore.com/Cricket/RP-Singh-c87028 from a holiday. Now they have again ignored me," Nehra revealed.
Contrary to Nehra’s statement, former Indian bowling coach, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bapu-Krishnarao-Venkatesh-Prasad-c47275, earlier revealed that currently the left-arm pacer has been facing a fitness issue. He added that though Nehra is experienced but this is the time to
look forward and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ashok-Aravind-c46347 would serve as the right replacement.
"I still don't know where I exactly went wrong after being India's highest wicket-taker in ODIs since my comeback in 2009. Also till http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 match where I fractured my finger, I didn't have any major injury issues," the 32-year-old
said.
Bowling in 120 ODIs, Nehra has claimed 157 wickets at an average of 31.72, including his best bowling figures of 6/23. He made his Test debut in February 1999 against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 at Colombo and bowling in 29 Test innings, he has
claimed 44 wickets at an average of 42.40, including his best bowling figures of 4/72.
Nehra has not played any single International game since he was ruled out of the International Cricket Council (http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625) World Cup 2011 due to his finger injury. His long absence from the International scene is also considered as one
of the reason for his failure to make his place in the Indian squad.
"Agreed I haven't played much cricket but what about some of those picked in the squad? Did they play any cricket in last three months?” said Nehra.
The spinner added that it’s in everyone knowledge that he has been playing in the NCA for the last two months.
