http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ashish-Nehra-c46293 wants to play Test match cricket
Indian pace bowler Ashish Nehra has said that he would like to now play for India at the Test match level. Nehra had last played in Test matches in 2004 but since then, injuries and rehabilitations have
meant that he has restricted himself to only the ODIs and the T20Is.
Speaking to the PTI, Nehra said that he had never said no to Tests but initially wanted to ease into international cricket by playing only in the shorter format of the game.
He added, “Now that I am back in the national side for one and a half years, I feel confident to make a comeback in the Test fold. I will like to make myself available for selection during the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757
Test series."
Nehra was one of the quickest Indian bowlers in the early part of 2000s, but had struggled with his injury issues. It was in 2004 that he had been pushed out of competitive cricket with his fitness issues
and he had rehabilitated and made a comeback thanks to the Indian Premier League in 2009. He had taken 18 wickets in the tournament and ended third on the bowlers’ list.
This allowed him a chance to make a comeback to the Indian international side. Currently, he is a regular in the Indian limited overs team. What has been heartening to watch is that since he made his comeback
in 2009, he has played in 36 games and scalped 54 sticks at an average of 29. What will also augur well for him is that he hasn’t missed a single game due to fitness issues.
Nehra also said that he wanted to play in the World Cup next year which is why had not played in the Tests before he was sure about being fit enough. He said, "For me the top-most priority is the World Cup
next year. That is why I have been so choosy about playing in the longer version. But after World Cup, there is lot of Test cricket to be played as http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760. I will like to again play Test cricket with the same intensity
that I used to at the start of my career."
Nehra has competition from Zaheer Khan, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/S-Sreesanth-c2398 to make it to the five-day team.
