Ashish Sharma beats Sachin Rawat to claim Men’s Singles title at Delhi State Badminton Championship
India’s talented player Ashish Sharma showed his tremendous performance and claimed Men’s Singles title after beating his higher ranked opponent Sachin Rawat at the Yonex Sunrise Hot Weather Delhi State Badminton Championship 2012 on Wednesday, July 18,
in Delhi, India.
The in-form Ashish, who was the third seed in Men’s Singles draw of the tournament, proved his elite class by playing at his best in the final battle when he overpowered the top seed Sachin in a thrilling fight.
The third seeded Ashish played to his maximum potential and won the first game with a tight margin but failed to take the second set. However, he proved his skills in the deciding game to register victory over his rival with a decent score.
On the contrary, the higher ranked Sachin played good badminton but failed to live up to expectations in the final game and lost the battle in three games.
Both shuttlers played positive badminton in opening half of first game and remained toe-to-toe until the one-minute break.
After the interval, the lower ranked Ashish changed his tactics and broke the flow of his rival by playing with deception in his shots.
The in-form Ashish continued his positive run against Sachin and took the game with a 21-19 score on the board.
In the second game, it was Sachin who controlled the driving seat this time as he played fast and aggressive badminton and remained ahead until the break.
After the one-minute interval, Ashish tried to bridge the gap but played a few negative shots at the crucial stage and lost the game with a 17-21 score on the board.
In the deciding game, Ashish powered his way back to occupy the driving seat as he played aggressive badminton while controlling the pace of bird and managed a decent lead until the break.
After the one-minute interval, Ashish continued impressing his fans by playing at his best speed and won the final game with a good margin of 21-15.
Ashish emerged as the winner in the title match by ending it up with a superb 21-19, 17-21 and 21-15 score on the board.
