The two players that played the quarterfinal of the Girls’ Singles event US Open 2011 were the number 3 seed Ashleigh Barty against wild card entrant Krista Hardebeck. As the two took up the swords on hard court 17 of the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, Australian Barty had an easy victory over American Hardebeck. In straight sets of 6-0, 7-5 the French women took the cake in just 55 minutes of play.
The first indigenous Australian to win a title at Wimbledon since Evonne Goolagong-Cawley's was Ashleigh Barty, this year. With a winning streak of thirty two matches won against only ten lost on the ITF circuit the 15 year-old has proved herself time and time again. She has had a great tour this year by winning three titles on the ITF circuit and reached her career high ranking of WTA 545 on the 21st of March 2011.
On the other hand, the 16 year-old Krista Hardebeck had played ten tournaments and won zero titles. She contested in twenty eight matches out of which she has won eighteen and lost only ten. Although, she hasn’t really had such a great year, she was still able to qualify to the quarter finals event here.
Opening the first round of the initial set was Barty, the first set was an easy victory as the American was unable to reel any points and neither was she able to break her opponent’s serve once during the entire set. Barty not only one three games on her serve but also kept breaking her opponent’s serve as well. By smashing two aces and two winners, Barty had five times the score of Hardebeck’s in the first set. In just 15 minutes Barty had completed the first set.
By the end of the first set, Barty was looking to power through to the second set, but after taking a hammering in the first set, she jumped back into the second but it was a little too late in the match  and the French walked away with a 7-5 victory in the second.
The second set was also opened by Barty and the two players kept winning on their serves in the first six games to balance the score board at 3-3. During the seventh and the eighth game both the players broke each other back to back to again even out the score at 4-4. However, in the following three games Barty had taken the lead and was one break up. As Hardebeck was serving to stay push the set to a tie breaker, Barty got Hardecka to hit the net and double fault on her serve, thus, breaking the American in the twelfth game, she bagged the set and the match.
Ashleigh Barty secured a berth in the semi final where she will be facing top seed Caroline Garcia.
