15-year-old, Ashleigh Barty, has flabbergasted everyone in the wildcard qualifying playoffs for the Australian Open 2012. She has been consistently performing throughout the tournament and entered the semi-final stage, just two
steps away from making it to the Grand Slam tournament main round draws. She is in the sights of every Australian tennis fanatic and they are eagerly waiting to see her in the main round draws of the event in January.
This will be the greatest achievement for the teenager at such early age of her career. After winning the quarter-final tie against the eighth seeded, Emelyn Starr in straight sets 6-3 6-2 at Melbourne Park, she was surrounded
by several media representatives. She was extremely delighted about his performance and stated “I honestly just wanted to see how I went (this week). I was just looking to have fun and to play against Casey was great. I was just looking to come in to play
a few matches, but now I'm in the semi-finals, it's going to be great.''
She topped the group in round-robin stage and will move on to the semi-final stage. It is going to be a bit of a wait for the Australian emerging tennis star but it might be good for the youngster to cool her nerves and keep her
focused on the task. She was surprised at her own performance and wanted to progress further and hit the world’s most elitist platforms in January. She has got the utmost talent and her fire power might be good enough to overpower her competitors in the next
stages of the tournament.
Saturday is the biggest day of her life as she will lock horns with the Russian tennis star, Victorian Arina Rodionova in the semi-final of the wildcard playoffs. On the other semi-final contest another Australian, Bojana Bobusic,
will face-off against Victoria's, Olivia Rogowska.
Barty further added “I just wanted to see how I went. I was just out here to have fun and to play against Casey was great. I'm not really sure; I'm ready when I'm ready. I can't tell you when that will be but I'll just keep developing
and see if I get there.”
She has been consistently performing throughout the year and has been crowned in six straight Pro Tour events in just three months time since September. She is confident that she will nail the encounter on Saturday, move into the
final and battle it out for the spot in the Australian Open main round draw.
