Ashley Cole says he will see out contract at Chelsea

Chelsea defender Ashley Cole says that he will stay with the English Premier League champions for the remainder of his contract.

The 29-year-old has been the subject of speculation linking him with a move away from the Stamford Bridge club following a string of allegations over his private life.

The left-back was heavily rumoured to be making the move to join his former Chelsea boss at Spanish giants Real Madrid, but Cole insists that he will remain with the Blues until his current deal runs out.

He told the London Evening Standard, "I have a contract with Chelsea, so I will stay here for the remainder of that. People don't know me, they just know what people write. My personality is shown on the training ground and around my friends and family.

"They see the real me so I am just doing my thing. I want to win, work hard, be better and improve. When I wake up in the morning, I want to go to training and that is all I want to do."

Should Cole honour his agreement with his club, he will take his term of service at Chelsea to seven years, following his 2006 arrival from London rivals Arsenal for a fee of five million pounds.

Cole, who is known for his attacking runs up the left flank, has made 169 appearances across all competitions for Chelsea and has scored six goals, all of which have come in the EPL.

The defender has won one EPL title, three FA Cups, a League Cup and an FA Community Shield during his stint with Carlo Ancelotti's side.

He has also made 85 appearances for the England national team, playing in three consecutive FIFA World Cup tournaments.
