Ashley Cole told he can leave and Cesc Fabrégas stays at Arsenal
Ashley Cole will be given permission to leave Chelsea this summer.

The left-back is wanted by José Mourinho at Real Madrid, and Chelsea will let him leave once they have sealed a deal for Benfica’s Fabio Coentrao for around £16million. In a deal to sign Cole, Real Madrid could offer Karim Benzema as part of the transfer.

Manchester City striker Emmanuel Adebayor has said he would like to join Italian side Juventus. Adebayor is apparently unhappy about the club attempting to sign Inter Milan striker Mario Balotelli, with that deal falling through. City are also keeping a close eye on Barcelona forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Giovani dos Santos is wanted by AC Milan after his good performance for Mexico at the World Cup. The Tottenham Hotspur winger could be lured to the San Siro, with AC Milan striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar heading in the other direction. Aston Villa are also in the hunt for Huntelaar. Meanwhile, Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp will try to sign goalkeeper Scott Loach of Watford after his bid was turned down in January.

Arsenal are attempting to sign Roma defender Philippe Mexes, while Bolton Wanderers boss Owen Coyle has admitted defeat in bringing Arsenal star Jack Wilshire to the club. Also, Arsenal captain Cesc Fabrégas has committed his future to the club, at least for another season, after he returned to an open training session at the Emirates yesterday.

Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson is believed to be lining up a move for Manchester City’s Shaun Wright-Phillips and Wayne Bridge, both of whom look set to leave the club this summer as part of City’s trimming of their squad. Hodgson could also go for Reading keeper Adam Federici after they had a bid rejected by Middlesbrough for Brad Jones.

Keeper Anders Lindegaard, of Norwegian side Aalesund, is wanted by Manchester United, but two other unnamed Premier League clubs have joined in the chase to sign him. Meanwhile, Aston Villa’s James Milner is set to sign for Manchester City, paving the way for Villa to go for Celtic’s Aiden McGeady.

Loïc Rémy held talks with Stoke City yesterday, but the transfer could be off after negotiations broke down over the fee and personal terms. Should Rémy move to Stoke, he is part of a £23million bid which includes Sunderland striker Kenwyne Jones and Ipswich Town forward Jon Walters. Also, Stoke player Tuncay is wanted by Wigan Athletic, but Stoke have rejected a £3million bid.

Sunderland manager Steve Bruce has failed in his attempts to bring Nedum Onuoha to the Stadium of Light in a £6million deal, while Stephen Jordan has joined Sheffield United.

Premier League new-boys West Bromwich Albion will sign Nicky Shorey from Aston Villa for £1.5million, while Leeds United, Hull City and Crystal Palace want to sign Arsenal’s Jay Simpson.

Jonas Gutierrez has stated he wants to stay at Newcastle United, despite interest from Italian side Lazio. Also, Coventry City boss Aidy Boothroyd has admitted he wants to sign Marlon King, who was released from prison last week after an 18-month sentence. Meanwhile, Swansea City have beaten Wigan to the signing of Chelsea’s Scott Sinclair for £1.5million after the player turned down a possible loan move.
