http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749, who emerged as Group D winners with 7 points, have never won the Euro title. Their best performance in the competition’s history was a third place finish way back in 1968.
Earlier, the veteran Chelsea full-back won the Champions League and FA Cup laurels with the Blues in May, but let out his aspiration of winning a major tournament with his country.
He told the reporters in an interview, “It is unfinished business. You play for your country and it is amazing to do that. But you play to win.”
Despite unravelling his Euro dream, the 31-year old admitted that his focus was on the Three Lions last-eight fixture on Sunday. However, he backed his side to carry their recent impressive run against the Azzurri, which has seen them compile four wins out
of their last 5 games.
Cole made an acrimonious move from Arsenal to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 in 2006, after garnering differences with the former over the subject of his salary. So far, he has made 250 appearances for the Blues and netted 6 goals.
However, the defender divulged that despite experiencing ups and downs in his career, he was satisfied with what he had achieved, and felt he was fortunate to get the opportunities of playing alongside some of the best players in the world in the top flight
clubs.
He added, “I wouldn't have believed it if someone had told me when I was a 16-year-old coming through the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 youth team.”
“I just loved football, being outside with my mates and getting really muddy, dirty and smelly. At 16, when you are in the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/U-17-Youth-team-c40787 of any club, you watch the first team and you want to emulate that and be those players.”
He went on to admit that he had regrets over some of the decisions that he made in the past, but explained that like any other human beings, footballers tend to make mistakes as well.
