Ashley Evans clinches Women’s 200m butterfly gold – Southwest Classic Invitational, Arizona

Ashley Evans of Arizona-AZ clinched gold medal of the Women’s 200m butterfly at the 2012 Southwest Classic Invitational in Tucson, Arizona on Saturday, May 5.
The 20-year-old Evans dictated terms to her challengers in the four-lap butterfly event. With her phenomenal efforts, she enjoyed a comfortable lead over her opponents from the start of the event and hit the finishing end for gold medal.
She remained in a significant lead over her challengers from the start of the event and tapped the wall with the timing of 2 minutes and 24.64 seconds.
Her gold winning effort remained 3.98 seconds faster from her strongest challenger, Erin R Campbell of Ford Aquatics-AZ, who proved her mettle for second position of the discipline by submitting a time of 2 minutes and 28.62 seconds.
The silver medallist was followed by Sam T Arellano of AZAC-AZ, who remained almost ten seconds behind and tapped the finishing blockade for bronze medal by reporting a time of 2 minutes and 38.18 seconds.
Fourth position of the event was obtained by Nicole M Van Alstine of SDA-AZ, who remained just 1.50 seconds slower from overpowering the bronze medallist and settled on the wall with the timing of 2 minutes and 39.68 seconds.
Alstine remained almost 0.40 seconds ahead of Michelle M Trujillo of Ford Aquatics-AZ, who proved her eligibility for fifth position of the event by reporting a time of 2 minutes and 40.06 seconds.
The 13-year-old Trujillo was followed by Kaitlin A Wright of AZAC-AZ, who snared sixth finest spot of the event by clocking a time of 2 minutes and 42.28 seconds.
Seventh best spot of the event was gained by Wright’s teammate, Bailee N Blankemeier, who stayed almost four seconds away and ended her swim in a time of 2 minutes and 46.72 seconds.
In the meantime, Krista T Duffield of Ford Aquatics-AZ occupied eighth position of the 200m event as she clocked a time of 2 minutes and 46.86 seconds.
Furthermore, the championship ended after the conclusion of all scheduled events while the position holders raked medals and accolades for their remarkable efforts after the session.
