Ashley Evans wins Women’s 200m butterfly heats: Day three – 2012 Mutual of Omaha Swimvitational
Ashley Evans of University of Arizona won the qualification rounds of Women’s 200m butterfly on day three of the 2012 Mutual of Omaha Swimvitational in Nebraska on Sunday, June 10.
The 20-year-old Evans exceeded expectations of her supporters by dominating the preliminary session of the event. With her astonishing efforts, she remained comfortably ahead of her opponents and reached the finishing end for first position.
Her fascinating efforts remained nearly two body lengths ahead of her following swimmer and transpired on the finishing end with the timing of 2 minutes and 17.47 seconds.
Her fastest qualification effort was trailed by Erin Campbell of Tucson Ford Deal, who stayed almost two seconds behind and hit the finishing wall with the timing of 2 minutes and 19.22 seconds.
Third fastest qualification spot of the race was secured by Meredith King of Unattached-NU, who stayed 0.22 seconds slower and settled on the finishing end with an effort of 2 minutes and 19.44 seconds.
King was chased by Hannah Kastigar of Aberdeen Swim Club, who stayed almost half body length behind and reached the wall for fourth position with the timing of 2 minutes and 20.09 seconds.
Fifth position of the discipline was secured by Abigail Chin of Cardinal Aquatics-KY, who was 0.05 seconds behind and clocked an effort of 2 minutes and 20.14 seconds.
Similarly, Chin was followed by Bailey Nero of Fort Collins Area, who was 0.31 seconds behind and snared sixth best spot of the event by touching the wall with an effort 2 minutes and 20.45 seconds.
The 15-year-old Nero was chased by Ariana Bullard of Carmel Swim Club, who was only a touch behind and gained seventh finest qualification spot of the event by submitting a time of 2 minutes and 20.59 seconds.
Eighth finest qualification spot of the race was secured by Rebecka Palm of Wisconsin Aquatics, who was 0.71 seconds away from her foregoing finisher and submitted a time of 2 minutes and 21.30 seconds.
Furthermore, the session ended after the conclusion of all planned events while these finalists will face each other in the final round of 200m event.
