Ashley Giles claims to have an edge over Australia – Cricket News
England’s limited-overs coach, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ashley-Fraser-Giles-c46314, is not satisfied with his team’s performance in the three-match One Day International (ODI) series against New Zealand, but believes that the Poms will have an advantage over Australia
in their opening fixture of the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 Champions Trophy 2013 on Saturday, June 8.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/AN-Cook-c1026 and company lost the battle against the Black Caps by two games to one, which is a surprising result for the cricket pundits, who backed the home team to dismantle the Kiwis.
The former left-arm spinner wants his team to raise their game and hopes that England are saving their best for the mega event.
"It's disappointing to have lost a series," Giles admitted. "We've let ourselves down in certain departments. There were different areas in the first two games where we disappointed and we've certainly not
played our A game yet. But maybe we're saving that.”
The last edition of the Champions Trophy started yesterday with the opening game between http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013
and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746, at Birmingham.
The Kangaroos miserably failed to make an impression in their second warm-up match against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 at Cardiff, being bowled out for merely 65 runs while chasing a mammoth total of 308 runs. Taking into account
the Baggy Greens’ showing against the Men in Blue, Giles feels that his side is going to have an edge in the opening encounter.
The coach said, "It's always a good thing for us when Australia get bowled out for 65. I didn't chuckle when I saw the score, because I've got more respect for them than that. But you're pleased they don't
get the practice they want and the boost in confidence they'd be looking for.”
England did not have the services of their two premier fast bowlers, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754. Their return however, has surely bolstered the bowling line-up of the hosts.
On the other side of the coin, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MJ-Clarke-c1978, the Australian skipper, is still doubtful for the match against the Poms.
