Ashley Giles wants Warwickshire men to keep moving forward – Cricket News Update
Warwickshire’s director of cricket, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ashley-Fraser-Giles-c46314, wants his players not to be complacent after their wonderful performance last season, and pushed his team to keep on improving.
Following nine wins during the last season, Warwickshire secured second place in the County Championship Division One 2011 points table.
In the batting department, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/WB-Rankin-c2785 were impressive with the ball.
The latter grabbed 55 wickets in the season while Woakes finished the season with one scalp more than Rankin. The http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Warwickshire-c862 boys also displayed a striking show in the field.
However, Giles asked his men not to rest on their laurels and produce an even better show in the upcoming season of English domestic cricket.
“We must keep improving. We must always keep moving forward. No pressure there then,” exhorts Giles who took over the charge in September 2007.
The side is well equipped to spark next season, as the boys will reassemble later this week for fitness tests and begin proper training at the start of next week.
While the other Counties are hunting for local and foreign players to strengthen their squads, the Warwickshire management is not keen to make any big chances in the line-up.
Giles made it clear that the side will http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Adrian-Roger-Kirshaw-Pierson-c42135 with the same line-up, as the guys are well gelled as a unit and desperate to do something wonderful in the forthcoming battle of cricket.
“As long as you feel you are a building something that is long-term and sustainable I don’t see there is a need for change. If that progress ever stops then maybe, whether it’s my choice or someone else’s, there will be a change,” shared the former left-arm
skipper who has plenty of international and domestic experience under his belt.
The director further insisted that the boys will have to keep their heels hot, as they still have a long way to go.
A veteran of 54 Tests and 178 first-class games added, “But at the moment, from my first season in 2008 to where we are now, I think we have come a long way.”
