Ashley Specht wins Women’s 100yard breaststroke gold – Indiana vs. Virginia vs. Penn State Tri Meet
Ashley N Specht of Hoosiers seized gold medal of the Women’s 100yard breaststroke at the 2012 Indiana vs. Virginia vs. Penn State Tri Meet on Friday, November 16 in Bloomington, Indiana.
Specht smothered hopes of her opponents in the 100yard discipline and proved her eligibility for the title. With her unrelenting efforts from the start of the race, she had no difficulty in snaring the title.
Specht remained more than half a body length lead over her toughest competitor and clocked a fantastic time of 1 minute and 01.60 seconds.
The gold medallist was followed by Bronwyn Pasloski of Hoosiers, who was 0.76 seconds slower and posted a nice time of 1 minute and 02.36 seconds for silver medal.
The second position holder was chased by Merritt Krawczyk of Penn State-MA, who was 0.21 seconds slower and clocked a time of 1 minute and 02.57 seconds for third position.
The bronze medallist was chased by Christine A Olson of Virginia-VA, who remained two and a half body length behind and surfaced on the finishing end for fourth position by posting an effort of 1 minute and 05.09 seconds.
Olson was traced by Madeline M Maher of Hoosiers, who stayed 0.08 seconds slower and completed her race in a time of 1 minute and 05.17 seconds for fifth place.
Similarly, sixth position of the race was obtained by Grace G Ninesling of Penn State-MA, who suffered a deficit of 0.02 seconds from his former finisher and surfaced on the finishing end by clocking a time of 1 minute and 05.19 seconds.
Ninesling was followed by Natalie A Martin of Virginia-VA, who was 0.21 seconds apart and concluded her race in seventh place by reaching the finishing end with a timing of 1 minute and 05.40 seconds.
Martin was traced by Amy J Lewis of Penn State-MA, who remained 0.26 seconds behind and touched the finishing blockade for eighth position by reporting a time of 1 minute and 05.66 seconds.
In addition, Specht was overjoyed with her title claiming effort and collected medal and accolades at the prize ceremony after the race.
