Ashley Wanland pockets Women’s 100m breaststroke gold: Day three – Mutual of Omaha Swimvitational
Ashley Wanland of University of Wisconsin pocketed gold medal of the Women’s 100m breaststroke on concluding day of the 2012 Mutual of Omaha Swimvitational in Nebraska on Sunday, June 10.
The 22-year-old Wanland demonstrated her stupendous efforts in the double-lap breaststroke discipline and made her way to the finishing blockade for gold medal of the event.
With her impeccable swim and strong determination, Wanland managed to out-touch her closest competitor and clocked a time of 1 minute and 08.74 seconds for gold medal.
The champion was trailed by Amanda Beard of Tucson Ford Deal, who stayed 0.12 seconds behind and transpired on the finishing end as second position holder by posting a time of 1 minute and 08.86 seconds.
Third position of the discipline was secured by Ann Chandler of Tucson Ford Deal, who stayed 0.15 seconds behind and settled on the finishing end with the timing of 1 minute and 09.01 seconds.
Chandler was chased by Ellyn Baumgardner of Curl Burke Swim, who stayed just one stroke apart and completed her swim with an effort of 1 minute and 09.14 seconds for fourth position.
Subsequently, the 21-year-old Baumgardner remained 2.15 seconds faster from Brittany Kimmitt of University of Wisconsin, who proved her eligibility for fifth position of the discipline by submitting a time of 1 minute and 11.29 seconds.
Sixth finest spot of the event was secured by Paulina Gralow of Wisconsin Aquatics, who stayed 1.20 seconds apart and clocked an effort of 1 minute and 12.49 seconds.
The 21-year-old Gralow was chased by Gisselle Kohoyda of Cardinal Aquatics-KY, who was just 0.15 seconds behind and reported a time of 1 minute and 12.64 seconds for seventh position.
Finally, Laura Day of Monument Swim Academy failed to upset any of her opponents in the 100 m event and finished eighth by touching the wall with the timing of 1 minute and 13.13 seconds.
The arena admired gruelling efforts of all participants in the breaststroke discipline while the position holders received awards and accolades at the prize distribution ceremony of the championship. In addition, the session ended after the completion of
all listed events.
