Ashley Wright on his way to enter pro circuit tour – Snooker Update
World Snooker Qualifying School (Q School) Event 1 has been producing outstanding snooker competitions at the World Snooker Academy in Sheffield where amateur potters from around the world are battling there to earn a place in the professional snooker circuit
tour for the next two years. England’s Ashley Wright is also one of those who are giving their best to achieve the goal of pro tour card.
The Grimsby potter produced tremendous fireworks at the academy to make his way straight into the fourth round. During his Q School run, he faced a couple of tough opponents such as Tom Maxfield, Reza Hassan and Justin Astley but sensibly handled them in
the best-of-seven matches and came out successful.
The English potter is aiming to hit the semi-final spot so that he can get his hands on the pro tour ticket for next two years.
Speaking to the local media, Wright said, “It was a big improvement in my performance. I was on form throughout the match, rather than being patchy and making silly misses at bad times – like I did in the first match. I didn't know much about Reza.”
He added, “He turned out to be a good player. He made a break of 82 to win his frame. I had to be on my game, but I was – I made some solid 50 breaks and a 60 to win my frames."
The two-year pro tour ticket prize is sufficient for any potter to work real hard and give his best in the game. The snooker governing body, World Snooker, announced at the conclusion of the 2011-12 Snooker Season about the two-year professional tour package
for 128 rookies. World Snooker Q School will produce 12 of them.
The Englishman has shown great deal of determination during the 2012 World Snooker Q School and has made his way successfully into the fourth round of the first event. He will be facing Nick Jennings in the fourth round of first Q School event. The match
up seems quite tough for the Englishman because Jennings is in good shape and has played impressively during his Q School run.
