http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ashley-Young-c6813 close to Manchester United switch while Arsenal and Liverpool wait on Stewart Downing
Aston Villa’s newly appointed manager; http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alex-c4752 McLeish had come forth and finally admitted to the fact, that he doesn’t see Ashley Young sticking around much longer. However, at the same time, the manager has gone on to state that perhaps all hope is not yet
lost on http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Stewart-Downing-c34221 staying at Villa Park at the end of the summer transfer window.
Both Young and Downing have been linked to be on their way out of the club, but, McLeish has admitted that he wasn’t very confident to the fact that he would be working with Young next season, as it is.
When talking about Young and his future at the club, the newly appointed manager is quoted to have said: "It's not confirmed yet [Young’s transfer to Manchester United] but it does seem likely”
"In my humble opinion it will be very difficult [to keep hold of him]."
Nonetheless, the manager has remained adamant on the fact that he wishes to sort out Downing’s future and doesn’t want to let the player just walk out the club, despite the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 being heavily linked with the player.
When talking about downing, McLeish went on to add:"No chance do we want Stewart Downing to go. We certainly don't want to lose Stewart"
"He's a top player.
"I need to see what Stewart's thinking when he comes back because I know that he made some comments when he was away on http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 duty.”
Despite the manager’s comments about both his players, the experts are currently favouring both Young and Downing to be on their way out of the club in the near future. Manchester United seem to be the hands down favourites to landing the highly talented
winger, despite Liverpool previously being rumoured to be amongst the teams that could potentially land the player.
On the other hand, it seems like Downing if anything is going to be following in Young’s steps. The winger has been on the brink of a move away from Villa Park for the last two seasons and with the likes of both Arsenal and Liverpool in the hunt for the
player, the chances of him sticking around are just very scarce. The player is now reaching a point in his career where he wants to test himself in the Champions League and with all due respect, that his something that Aston Villa just can’t offer him in the
near future.
Young is currently being valued in at around twenty five million pounds, while Downing is set to go for as little as fifteen million.
