Ashwin aims strong start to the upcoming season - Cricket News Update
Indian off-spinner, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/R-Ashwin-c2228, hopes to make the most of the upcoming season by playing good cricket and staying fit, starting with his team’s assignment against Sri Lanka.
The bowler, along with his national side teammates, will leave on July 18 to play a five-match One Day International (ODI) series against the Islanders starting from July 21.
The 25-year-old, whose name was announced in the 15-man squad last week, had a long layoff after the Indian Premier League (IPL) season five, and believes the break has rejuvenated him to start the season on a strong note.
"I don't want to think too far ahead about what I intend to achieve mentally. But it has been a good break and it has helped me to get fresh before the new season starts," the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Tamil-Nadu-c853 player said.
Team http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746, and the off-spinner believes that the key to give your best in the season is by staying fit.
"It will really be a long season and my aim would be to remain fit and last the whole season," the spinner said.
The right-arm spinner has been preferred over Harbhajan Singh for the recent tours, and when asked about people drawing comparison with the veteran Indian bowler - Ashwin dismissed the notion.

With http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Rahul-Sharma-c83352 in the team, the 25-year-old will most likely be leading the pack of Indian spinners and said that he relishes the opportunity to lead the spin department of the Men in Blue.
Ashwin is hopeful that the five-match series in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 World T20 Championship, helping his side edge over other nations when the mega-event begins next month.
"Obviously, when World T20 starts, we will be one up over our other opponents having got a chance to assess the conditions," he concluded.
