Asia Cup 2012: making the finals is no fluke reckons http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mushfiqur-Rahim-c2045 – Cricket News Update
Bangladesh skipper, Mushfiqur Rahim, was upbeat about his side’s chances in the final of the Asia Cup 2012 – which they will play against Pakistan on Thursday, March 22 at the Shere Bangla National Stadium, Mirpur.
The wicket-keeper batsman said that http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747’s berth in the final of the high profile tournament was not a fluke; rather he termed it a result of their hard work and proper planning.
Speaking to media personals on the eve of the Asia Cup final, Rahim said, “When you reach the finals of a tournament with three top teams, and you win twice and play pretty consistently, I don't think it's an upset. It was a well-planned
and well-executed progress.”
Bangladesh has performed exceptionally well in the Asia Cup so far and Rahim states that the results depict that they have lifted their game. The skipper held that his side are in high spirits after winning some close encounters,
and that with every passing game their performances are getting even better.
“The way we have played all through the tournament shows that as a team we have improved in the last three weeks. Not only in performance but we have also overcome mental barriers, like winning two close matches. If you win matches
like that the confidence of the whole team lifts,” said the Bangladeshi skipper.
Bangladesh cricket team has already defeated the 2011 World Cup finalists and winner, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 in the final.
Pakistan has not lost to Bangladesh since their group stage defeat to them in the 1999 World Cup. The Men in Green also won their opening fixture of tournament against Bangladesh; however, the hosts took Pakistan to the wire in that
match.
Rahim and Bangladesh have chalked out the players in the Pakistan team who pose the greatest threat. The off-spin bowler, Saeed Ajmal, is one cricketer that the Bangladeshi skipper wants his players to subdue, along with Pakistan’s
pace spear head Umar Gul.
The wicket-keeper batsman also wants his bowlers to make early inroads against Pakistan so they can exploit the Men in Green’s fragile batting line-up. Rahim believes that if his side executes the plans right they can lift their
maiden Asia Cup trophy.
