Asia Cup: http://www.senore.com/Cricket/SL-Malinga-c2540 to bounce back – Cricket News Update
Sri Lanka’s bowling coach, Champaka Ramanayake, is confident about the Lankan pace spear head, Lasith Malinga, and believes there is no reason for concerns over his performance. According to the bowling coach, Malinga just had a couple of bad games and will
bounce back in the Asia Cup.
Ramanayake felt that http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758’s jammed pack international schedule was one of the reasons behind Malinga’s below par outing in the Commonwealth Bank series. The Lankans played eleven matches from February 8 to March 8, and playing so many games in such
little time, can cause any one to lose their concentration, opined Champaka.
“He's okay; everyone can have a bad game or two when you play 11 games in such a short time. In http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 there was not much reverse swing, so he struggled a bit. So I hope he'll learn new tricks,” he said.
Malinga is the most feared bowler within the Lankan bowling contingent. The right-arm slinger is famous for his toe crushing Yorkers, and more often than not he is the one leading from the front.
The 28-year-old started the CB series on a high but in the last few games the pacer was taken apart by the opposition batsmen. Albeit, Malinga was the highest wicket taker in the CB series, his economy rate of 6.21 was on the higher side.
In the 11th match of the CB series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750, the right-arm pacer conceded 96 runs with an economy rate of 12.52 runs per over, his worst performance in Lankan colours to date.
Despite some dismal performances, Malinga is certain to play for the Lankans when they go up against India in the second match of the Asia Cup, which will be played at Shere Bangla National Stadium, Mirpur on Tuesday, March 13, 2012.
Hinting that Sri Lanka will play three seamers in the side, Ramanayake said, “We haven't decided it yet but I think any team will play three quicks with the Powerplays these days. Also, the two new balls mean taking three medium-pacers is necessary and reverse
swing is still there. In Dhaka, the weather is dry right now so reverse is possible, though it is not like the days when we had just one new ball.”
