Shakib Al Hasan optimistic about Bangladesh’s chances in Asia Cup 2012 – Cricket News Update
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747’s ace all-rounder, Shakib Al Hasan, is upbeat about his side’s chances in the high profile Asia Cup 2012. The 24-year-old has one target in mind and that is to win the trophy that has eluded them
since its inception.
The Bangladesh cricket team will face an uphill task, as they will be against three of the most dangerous teams in ODI cricket – Pakistan, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758. Apart from Bangladesh, all three teams were
part of the 2011 World Cup semi-finals.
Beating the big boys is exactly what Hasan wants to do in order to prove to the rest of the world that they are no longer one of the weaker sides.
Speaking at the pre-match press conference at the Shere Bangla stadium, Hasan said, “Our target? To be the champions. We want to play our best cricket, though we are not able to do it all the time. It is
possible at home. This tournament is a good place for us to know where we stand in world cricket at the moment.”
Bangladeshi players have not played international cricket for three months, their last series was against Pakistan in December 2011 and their debut Asia Cup will also see them fight it out against the Men
in Green.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Hasan-c61990 does not think that Bangladeshi players will be rusty and out of match practice despite a long layoff from international cricket. The all-rounder claims that the recently concluded Bangladesh Premier
League (BPL) has kept players in shape.
He said, “We had very good preparation, not as a team, but in domestic competitions. If we play to our potential, I'm hopeful we can do well. We haven't won against Pakistan for a long time but in the last
series we had a good chance in the third ODI. We did well in the second Test. This is an opportunity to prove ourselves.”
The first match of Asia Cup between http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 and Bangladesh will start at 8:00 GMT and will be played at Shere Bangla National Stadium, Mirpur, on March 11, 2012.
