Asia Youth Under-19 Championships: Kento Momota stamps his mark over Shesar Hiren Rushtavito
Japan’s budding shuttler Kento Momota proved that he has got a certain level of skills when he stamped his mark over Indonesia’s talented player Shesar Hiren Rushtavito in Men’s Singles battle at Badminton Asia Youth Under 19 Mixed Team Championships 2012
on Sunday, July 1, in Korea.
The impressive performance of Momota showed that Japanese shuttlers are bridging the skill gap with an incredible speed and are a major threat to the domination of China, Indonesia, Malaysia, Denmark and all other top nations in the arena of badminton.
Momota put up a staggering show when he played with impressive confidence while contesting against Shesar and registered a striking victory by finishing off the fight in straight sets in just 34 minutes.
Whereas, Shesar could not do much on court as he failed to play his normal game and faced a fierce attack from his Japanese opponent in the whole contest. He could not stop the fireworks of Momota and lost to his with a reasonable difference on the score
board.
The Indonesian started to play aggressive badminton against his Japanese rival in opening rallies of first game but failed to take a strong position as his opponent was in complete control of rallies.
Until the mid-game interval in this clash, both men were close on the score board as no one could claim a comfortable advantage.
After the interval, they continued putting up thrashing show but it was Momota who employed deception in his shots while playing at net and eventually took the set with a tight margin of 21-19.
In the following set, Momota claimed a good lead form the initial stage by playing composed badminton. He was positive in the court and took a reasonable lead against his Indonesian opponent until the mid-game interval.
After the break, the Japanese continued his authoritative run on court as he did not play sluggish game at any stage and managed to win it with a six-point gap of 21-15.
The in-form Momota emerged as victorious against Shesar in straight games with a convincing 21-19 and 21-15 margin on the score board.
