Due to the uncertainty and economic depression Japan could not concentrate on the games.
However, although the Second World War effected the development of Rugby adversely within the country, i.e. the country could not sustain its sports activities, but at the same time after the arrival of the Americans and the Europeans forces, the game was further introduced in the region. Foreign troops used to play in their bases, which gave incitement to the people regarding this game. So, slowly and gradually the game established its roots in the country. During recent years, and especially during the reign of former Prime Minister, Yoshiro Mori, the game got much development. Japan tried hard to host the 2011 Rugby World Cup, but that status was instead won by New Zealand.
