Asian Continental Team Champion System is all legs for the Tour of Qatar 2012
The professional continental team, Champion System, is all set to start the 2012 season. The team has just finished training and is now eyeing the Tour of Qatar to begin its new year’s campaign.
Team Champion System is the first Asian pro continental team and as many as 200 people were present at the team’s recent press conference in Hong Kong.
The event was fully broadcasted by the main media TV channels throughout China and was also covered by a number of newspapers.
The team was founded in 2010 with China as its homeland. It had a good debut season and claimed the stages at the Tour de Korea and the Tour of Hainan.
The Asian side also claimed the overall victories at the Jurmala GP and the Estonia Road Race Championships.
Ed Beamon, the team’s General Manager, is optimistic that the side will take its performance to the next level.
He also thanked all the media channels and the newspapers for embracing the team with a terrific coverage.
He briefed, "I am amazed at the overwhelming reception the team received at both the Beijing and Hong Kong presentations. It's very rewarding to see how the mainstream media has already embraced the team and shown its enthusiasm for the new project".
Xu Gang (CHN), Gorik Gardeyn (BEL), Aaron Kemps (AUS), Mart Ojavee (EST), Jiao Pengda (CHN), Clinton Avery (NZL), Will Clarke (AUS) and Matthias Friedemann (GER), are selected for the Tour of Qatar.
Team will ride the Tour of Oman with a slightly different roster, Xu Gang (CHN), Gorik Gardeyn (BEL), Mart Ojavee (EST), Jiao Pengda (CHN), Clinton Avery (NZL), Chris Butler (USA), Will Clarke (AUS), and Matthias Friedemann (GER).
Beamon spoke about the Tour of Qatar, "We know it's a difficult race and will require a lot of focus, but I think we have a strong and a fast team. We'll be looking to make the splits and the team will work hard at the finishes”.
He also highlighted that the team is looking ahead to make an impact at the Tour of Oman and it will be an important venue for the side to bag some stage wins.
