Asian Food Question......Black eggs?

Question

I bought some pre-packed hard boiled eggs with out the shells. They are black and rubbery! The yolk is brown and creamy. The package had a sticker saying 'garlicky hard boiled eggs'. I bought these for fun. What do people do with them and what exactly are thery? I am almost positive they are not chinese thousand year old eggs. I think they're from tiawan.

It doesn't sounds like Century Eggs coz it'll has this pungent smell and taste that not many will accept.

Sounds like it's Tea-Leaves Eggs.. Hard boil eggs broken it, soak into boiling tea-leave with soysauce (traditionally),  but Taiwanese has add on plenty of other taste for variety purposes...

It could be quail egg or chicken egg or even duck egg...

add them into rice soup.how to make rice soup add lots of water to one cup of rice let boil then stir until cook if the water gets low keep adding water until the rice cook.

Hey, I dated a girl from mainland china and I've traveled to Taiwan, South Korea, and Japan numerous times.

It sounds to me like they may be quail eggs, they fit that description.  I don't know how they prepare them but it's usually served in a noodle soup or in a sauce.

They may be pigeon eggs. I once saw Andrew Zimmerman eat them in a Taiwanese market place.

I've only seen quail eggs having a yellow yolk, but I guess.. it could be.. iono lol. Those are quail eggs, but what you bought sounds strange.

You should probably always ask what it is and how to cook it before you buy it.

i'm chinese and i've never heard of those. try boiling some of them and eating them. they might taste good. or put some in soup. if you don't like them, throw them out.

probably tea-leaf eggs. found at taiwanese marketplaces. it's normally eaten as a snack.
