Asian Football Federation forced to ponder over Iran’s Asian Champions League spots – AFC News
The Asian Football Confederation has signalled warning for Iran regarding their four Champions League spots. The federation has asked for an improved act after which it will only be decided whether Iran would be deprived of those four slots or vice versa.
The Iran Pro League President, Aziz Mohammadi, believed that country’s football has taken an upward trend ever since the AFC director of competition, Tokuaki Suzuki, last visited the country. He mentioned that the committee has been working on the criteria
set by the AFC but it would take time in bringing everything back to normal
The confederation found certain things in Iranian football as alarmingly unacceptable and demanded a quick solution in order to keep the Champions League places alive. A few things figured out by the committee were the lack of facilities for players at various
grounds, lack of facilities for International teams and the fans, and very poor attendance record over the past few years.
The Director, Suzuki, urged the Iranian officials to work on the criteria set up for them and only then the committee will decide the country’s future.
The director further told, “There will be a couple of things which are Iran's weak points. Most of all, we will re-assess the facility part and I look forward to seeing any improvements in this aspect. Secondly, we will check the flows of the respective
groups such as players, officials, media, fans and VIP.  Thirdly, it seems that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Iran-c2923 still can't produce an accurate figure for match attendances. We will see how the clubs are doing the attendance counts.”
The Iranian Pro League President was delighted to see his nation going in the right direction in the wake of warning imposed upon them by the AFC.
Aziz concluded by saying, “However, there would be still a few criteria which we may not meet and we would be happy to follow up on them and finally meet all the criteria set by the AFC.”
AFC Director also concluded by saying that two clubs from Iran, Sepahan and Zob Ahan, have already impressed him with their performances in the 2011 ACL. He also hoped to see other teams from the country following them on a more regular basis.
