Asian Games Table Tennis latest; Singapore go down to 0-3 against China in the women’s team event

On the fourth day of the sixteenth Asian Games, Singapore went down to 0-3 versus China in the women's table-tennis team final.
The Singapore side fielded Wang Yuegu in the opening singles. The world number seven went down three games to nil to her Chinese’s opponent, Li Xiaoxia who is ranked number eight in the world.
The right handed Wang is ranked among the top ten female table tennis players in the world. She made her inaugural appearance on the International Table Tennis Federation Professional Tour back in 2005 during the month of June
when she competed at the Volkswagen Korean Open, held in South Korea. The 30-year-old along with her partner, Sun Beibei did well to grab the silver medal in the doubles event.
On the 24th of September 2006, the Chinese player lifted her first gold medal on the Professional Tour at the Japan Open in Yokohama. She repeated the performance versus her compatriot player Li Jiawei two months later at the ITTF
Pro Tour German Open in Bayreuth.
A year later, Wang also helped her country in sweeping the women's team, women's doubles and mixed doubles gold titles at the seventeenth edition of the Commonwealth Table Tennis tournament in Jaipur.
The professional table tennis ace from Singapore, despite holding such an impressive record however couldn’t play well in her match against the 22-year-old Li Xiaoxia at the Asian event on Tuesday. Li, who practices in the Jiangsu
Wuxi Shanhe Club in China under the supervision of Li Sun, played superior game to get past her opponent. Her coach, Li Sun, is also the mentor of Zhang Yining, who won gold at the Olympic Games.
It is likely that the former world number one Li will soon become one of the most valuable contenders of Team China in the future.
Meanwhile, Feng Tianwei went up versus current world top ranked Guo Yan and also suffered a 3-0 loss.
The Singapore side opted for the 29-year-old Li Jiawei of veteran in the third singles clash who also failed to stop China’s excellent run, going down 3-0 to Guo Yue.

The result implied that Singapore has won another silver medal, bringing the current medal haul to one bronze and two silver medals at the Asian Games in China.
