  1. hmm, i'd personally say, if you make soup noodles, that's really tasty and i think it's pretty healthy. and one really nice thing about it is that all the components of it, you can switch it up, so there's many possibilities of variance. there's different noodles, proteins, vegetables, and even broths that you could try out.

one really good asian food is hot pot. basically, you have a bunch of raw foods (veggies, seafood, meats, etc) aroung a pot and you throw whatever in you want, scoop it out, and put a sauce on it. you eat noodles at the end. it's really good cause you're eating more slowly, so you don't just shovel it down.

another great thing is just make some rice and have little sides with it. i know i'm not being specific, but the point is, you're free to choose whatever. just sample aroudn and figure out what you like, but remember to add a lot of vegetables.

    hope this helps.

  2. Yes, I agree with pekau's reply above.

For starters, usually Japanese & Chinese dishes cook a lot of vege. soup which can be pretty filling. Usually bones/lean meat are put into it as well. Just a bowl per person is good.

Normal stew - can be filling & special. Try to google for such recipe:- Chinese & Mushroom stew, Pumpkin & small prawns stew.

Stir fried dishes like egg plants & chillies are great, large onions stir fried wth. chicken, sweet & sour fish/chicken/pork (if you want less fat, choose the lean meat part).

Taufu/beancurd is another simple & health dish.

U can either steam it & add wth fried onion/garlic & olive oil.

Or you can cook it together with all the ingredients above & add a dash of oyster sauce or chicken stock. (just a bit for the taste).

Using herbs & mushroom brings in the taste thus you can reduce adding in oil, salt, sugar & etc.

Once a while drinking green tea is good for health especially during the day or heavy meal. If you can't stand the smell, you can add a spoon of honey into it.

Feel free to google around, I'm sure there are a lot of recipes around. Besides that, I believe the people in Asian market can teach you a thing or two if you ask them politely. =)

  3. There are a few books that you can buy that will help you learn about the many different ingredients used in Asian Cuisine.  Here are a couple links to some of the books.  If you get the ISBN numbers, I am sure your local bookstore can order it if they do not have it in stock.

  4. Asian food are not necessary healther than Western food. It all depends on what food you are taking.

If you are looking for healthy Asian food, kimchi is a nice start. It prevents cancer, spicy (Depends on your taste), and is simple to store. Eat it with rice and meat, and it's really nice.
