  1. Asian parents may not praise a son in front of other people, but they most certainly DO affirm his actions! Different cultures operate in different ways. Simply because the Asian parent does not operate on the same wavelength as a western early childhood educator doesn't mean there aren't positive affirmations going  on. Westerners may simply not be aware of them, because they can be very subtle, but are still very potent.

  2. I think the question is about if the method of not praising a child after success has been reached.  (Asking which one of the choices is the reason why that is)

I know these questions seem totally strange but this is the way education is headed these days.  It's an attempt to carefully consider each child's cultural customs when working with them but unfortunately this results in generalizations.  We all know how off the mark those can be!  After getting into the classroom myself I realized how you have to take these things they teach you in college with a grain of salt.

  4. this is so backward. so 50s. i'm from the Philippines and we don't  teach kids over here as if they're in a bootcamp. generalizations about races suck! "praising the child might bring him bad luck"!!! oh so funny lol

  5. This is a very strange question to ask. We Americans have more dysfunctional people being that divorce is so predominant in the U.S. Asians hold on to their families and stay together. The offspring seem very well adjusted in most cases, excelling in academics. I would say they praise and encourge their children to do the best they can. Who is to say that the mothers are not praising their sons to succeed? They go on to college to become doctors, lawyers, and business owners.

  6. what's the question?
