Asian style bedroom?

im 14 and redoing my room an asian style. i was wondering if anyone new were i could find some uniqe stuff like curtains, bedding, dresser or desk type... im already saving mony for a new platform bed but i was wondering if anyone would have some uniqe ideas

First off, you can have a platform style bed for a lot cheaper, and it would be more practical.  With most platform beds you have to fold your comforter up and tuck it into the corners, and that&#039;s a lot of work to do every day.

What you have to do for an easier platform bed (that you can do yourself with the help of some friends/family) is to first measure the length and width of your bed.  You will want planks about 3 inches longer than your measurements.  Then measure the height of the bed from the floor to the top of the mattress (with the bed on a basic bed frame).  Subtract the amount that you want to show.  (I would do this so that half of the top mattress shows.)  Then simply nail the planks together.  You can use wood glue, nails, and a staple gun for added stability.  Basically you want to end up with a box around your bed that&#039;s about 3 inches &quot;loose&quot;.  This will leave you room to make your bed like usual and tuck your comforter down into the crack.  Depending on how thick your comforter is, you may want to leave more or less space.  I would want a &quot;tigher&quot; look, where there is no space left once the comforter is on the bed.

You can stain the wood or leave it clean.  A lot of asian themed rooms have that light wood and it looks really nice. As far as things to decorate go, look around your town for small asian stores.  We have one called Treasure Gallery that has everything from rugs, to vases, paper lanterns, tapestries, and buddhas.  Some asian restaurants even sell things for really cheap.

Asian is a really easy theme.  Your colors should be rich reds, greens, and blues, paired with gold.  Just be careful not to go too crazy.  If you like dragons use them, but don&#039;t use dragons, tigers, and elephants!  For your windows you can get those bamboo blinds.  Think of other ways to utilize the bamboo, like if you have one of those tall lamps, maybe wrap a section of the curtain around it so it looks like you have a bamboo lamp.

You can use one of those giant fans as a headboard piece (I got one at a restaurant for just $10)!  Then you can spread smaller fans throughout the room to tie it in. I&#039;m even getting this crazy idea for a fan wall light.  If you could find a way to mount a fan to the wall with a light behind it, that would be beautiful!  You could even glue a small fan to a night light.

Have fun with this idea.  Asian stuff is so easy to get and make that you can do almost anything, just be creative.
