I want to take my best friend for afternoon tea as a birthday treat but she's already been to The Ritz. Anyone got any other suggestions?

  1. harvey nicks is quite nice.  if you like a theme, try belgo, it has bench tables and monks serving. or if you want to combine it with a show, lastminute do great deals for around 20 per head

  2. Harrods is always a treat

  3. Either Fortnum and Mason's - original tea importers have wonderful tea rooms on Piccadilly.

My favourite is Coffee Cake and Kink (Endell St.) but you might not like the artwork.

  4. There's a (relatively new) place on Westbourne Grove, called Tea Palace.  Nice atmosphere.  Also, there's a tiny tea shop off Kenstington Church Street - I think it's Holland Street, on the left handside walking from the Kensington High Street end.  The latter is cheaper and has less choice than the former.  Another good place is also Sketch.

  5. Claridges.

  6. I know a few you could look at. If you go too toptable.com on the web they have all  top events, restaurants, hotels and things to do with discounts available. I tried it and it is a brilliant website for money off places.

  7. Try the Sofitel St James, it is on Pall Mall near to Picadilly Circus, it has a really cute pink tea room.

  8. Fortnum & Mason's

  9. definitely Claridges, but if you cannot get in try Browns on Albermarle St,

  10. The Savoy or the Mayfair or the Park Lane Hilton

  11. Fortnum and Mason's is lovely and had a beautiful view of the shop below you.

If you don't want to go centrally, 'The Original Maids Of Honour' (Kew- either Kew mainline station or go to Richmond and take a 65 bus towards Ealing) is one of London's oldest tea shops, serving cakes to a secret (formerly royal) recipe. It is near kew Gardens so can be combined for a day out.

  12. I would deffo plump for the Savoy.

If it swings the vote then at the moment they have a special offer on at the moment for weekend dining.

Go her for Details and the voucher.

    Its 0800 for booking also.

    Enjoy yourself wherever you go.

  13. The Mandarin Oriental offers a very nice afternoon tea service overlooking the park.

You could also check the UK Tea Council's recommendations at http://www.tea.co.uk

    Wherever you decide... enjoy

  14. The Savoy.
